When Heaven Called Her Home! (In Loving Memory of Grandma Harrison)

She came into this world with grace,
A tender heart, a shining face.
A mother young, yet wise and true,
With love enough to carry through.
Nine children wrapped in warm embrace,
She built a home, a sacred place.
Though shadows crept and trials came,
Her faith in God remained the same.
She fought her battles, silent, deep,
But gave her all—no time to weep.
With open arms and kitchen light,
She made each morning feel just right.
Oh, Grandma’s breakfasts, none compare—
The scent of love hung in the air.
And when the porch swing swayed with breeze,
She found her peace among the trees.
She’d rock the babies, hum a tune,
Her voice as soft as a summer moon.
And every time I'd come around,
She’d greet me with that joyful sound:
"Hi Clinton!"—face aglow,
A love as pure as one can know.
She watched the birds with patient eyes,
Beneath the ever-changing skies.
With Mom beside her, hand in hand,
They’d marvel at God’s gentle land.
Though pain had marked her final years,
She bore it well—through hope and tears.
Outliving all we'd thought she’d do,
Still strong, still sweet, still pushing through.
She missed him—Grandpa—gone so long,
The anchor to her morning song.
And in her dreams, he’d call her near:
"Old lady, don’t you want out of here?"
She’d laugh, unsure if it was time,
Still holding tight to life’s steep climb.
But said, “I want to see my sis…”
And after that—God granted this.
She journeyed south, then made it back,
And in that peace, she found no lack.
For just beyond our earthly view,
A voice she loved said, “I missed you too.”
And now she walks by Grandpa’s side,
Where angels sing and saints abide.
No more pain and no more fear,
Just joy eternal—crystal clear.
Though we will miss her warm embrace,
Her laugh, her hands, her gentle grace—
We’ll carry all she gave and taught,
Her love, her strength, her every thought.
So swing, sweet Grandma, swing on high,
Beneath the trees of Heaven’s sky.
We’ll see you there one golden day,
When God calls us the same sweet way.
